CenterPoint Tormentor Whisper AXCTW185CK

Compound Crossbow with 4x32 Scope, RCD

CenterPoint Tormentor Whisper, just likes its name is a crossbow designed especially for taking silent shots, even before your prey gets to know what happened, the arrow would have pierced through the target. A hunter gets only one shot to take down the target, and the 14-inch axle to axle distance helps to get the much-required accuracy when taking down a moving target.

This crossbow is mostly used by skilled hunters going on a hunt and is not recommended to use if you don’t have previous experience of using something like this before, otherwise, the 185 lbs draw weight can leave bruises on your arms.

CenterPoint Tormentor Whisper AXCTW185CK

The Tormentor whisper 380 has an all-weather composite stock with rubber padded grips for comfort and convenience. This crossbow has a whisper silencing system that includes two string stoppers with silencers and two limb dampeners, two spider silencers for the ultimate in noise reduction and vibration control. The crossbow also has a rigid aluminum rail and riser, integrated Picatinny rail for mounting optics and an Anti-dry-fire and auto-safety trigger mechanisms to ensure safe handling of the crossbow.

The 7.9-pound weight makes this crossbow a heavy one, which is not particularly a bad thing considering the features it provides but then you should also be mentally prepared to lift that much weight along with some 1-2 pound heavy accessories too.

  • The biggest selling factor of this bow has got to be the String silencers used in the crossbow which makes it a hunter’s primary choice.
  • With a crossbow length of 35.5 inches and a 13.75-inch power stroke allows the user to shoot a powerful shot after drawing the arrow with a draw weight of 185lbs.
  • For a hunter, speed is one of the most critical factors, but not worry as this crossbow can shoot at a velocity up to 380FPS(foot per second).
  • The Camo Stock provides a lot of support when taking a shot from a close range and also keeps the crossbow stable in the user’s hand.
  • The camouflage skin helps in blending in with the environment to some extent.

  • The axle to axle length should be extendible to at least 18inches, as higher the distance between the left and right axle more is the accuracy of the shot from long range, therefore this crossbow currently cannot take long-range shots with high accuracy.
  • The crossbow weighs 7.9lbs and 9.2lbs after accessories, which may not be preferred by most of the hunters. Considering the fact that the scope and the arrows provided with the crossbow is not of that good quality and it is recommended to use your own scope and arrows.

What others are saying

On reading the reviews of this product on amazon, I am pretty confident that the product offered is genuinely a good product as 70% of the reviews has 5-star ratings, with value for money as the highest selected parameter, with accuracy and easy to assemble coming in at second and third respectively

I have a 50-yard range by my house so setting the scope no hassle. it took 4 shots at 30 yards to set this thing dead on. In fact, I shot different spots as not to center and ruin bolts. Drop compensation is right on at 50 yards. I use a clamp-in rest with a hydraulic trigger setup. I wasn't thinking and used a regular 12" thick block style target on my first shot and the bolt passed clean through and then some. I set up my 3-D target and at 30 yards the bolt stops right at the fletching.

At 50 yards the bolt stops about 2" from the fletching. This thing is really quiet. I've had crossbows before but nothing I've used compares to this one. My friend uses a crossbow he spent almost $2k on this one is much quieter right out of the box. It's still loud enough that deer could hear it easily but for a crossbow, it's really quiet. The weight is substantial but not bad. I love it, and even though I didn't get to use it much this year, because of Hurricane Irma, I'm looking forward to the next archery season.

It is a good budget crossbow for experienced hunters, as it still is one of the fastest crossbows in the market with a speed of 380 fps. However, it may be a bit heavy to use but its features easily shadow its higher weight.  Crossman did a great job on this model and we recommend seriously considering it if you are looking for a great hunting compound crossbow on a budget.
